The real question for this is, why no 24p? If this really is by popular demand, why not offer 24P as well. I think that Canon’s source for their popular demand is journalists and other still shooters trying to use the camera as a real video camera, NOT indie filmmakers.

Indie filmmakers want 24P. news organizations do not.

This however does open up the possibility for updating the camera to allow 24fps should enough people ask for it.
